Outdoor Education Instructor · Summer 2027

Description

YMCA Camp Kern near Dayton is hiring Outdoor Education Instructors alongside camp counselors and equestrian staff for its 2027 summer programs. Science and PE teachers especially will recognize the hands-on, lesson-based instruction style the role calls for in hikes, zipline guiding, and nature-based lessons.

YMCA Camp Kern operates on a wooded property in Oregonia, Ohio, near Dayton, offering outdoor education programming alongside traditional summer camp activities such as equestrian riding, ziplining, and nature hikes. Outdoor Education Instructors lead groups through experiential lessons, facilitate zipline and adventure course activities, and help care for camp animals and outdoor spaces, working closely with campers much as a classroom teacher would guide a lesson plan. The organization says it welcomes applicants without prior experience and provides job training and skill development on site. This role is a good fit for science, PE, or environmental-education teachers who want to spend summer teaching outdoors instead of indoors. Exact 2027 pay, dates, and specific openings were not detailed on the page reviewed, so candidates should confirm current information with YMCA Camp Kern directly.
